RheinEnergie AG: From complex IT projects to smart knowledge transfer
Complex projects. High time pressure.
RheinEnergie was facing a decisive transformation phase. The go-live of SAP S/4HANA was approaching, and the time until the DAP selection was tight—only about six months remained for preparation and implementation. At the same time, other major change projects were underway in service and sales, which also created an increasing need for training. The internal workload was high, and expectations for an efficient learning and support solution were correspondingly high.
At the same time, the topic of a “digital adoption platform” had been on the table at the company for years – but without the hoped-for effect of earlier approaches. Many of those involved were therefore cautious: they wanted a solution that would finally work in practice without tying up resources again or disappointing the specialist departments. Trust had to be regained first.
Added to this was the requirement to provide around 3,000 employees with understandable, reliable, and quickly accessible support in projects such as SAP S/4HANA or Salesforce/Schleupen. The company was looking for a solution that would enable simple content creation, provide guidance in the work process, and not create additional technical hurdles.
Deliver knowledge faster—directly in the workflow
tts supported RheinEnergie in setting up a modern, uniform platform for knowledge transfer and performance support. At the heart of this is the tts performance suite – as the central point of contact for learning in the work process. The solution makes it possible to quickly capture, prepare, and provide knowledge in a tailored manner.
A key success factor was the simple, intuitive content creation. Departments were able to take action themselves without technical hurdles, generating knowledge exactly where it arises. Click paths made new processes visible and comprehensible without additional training. Context-sensitive access enabled employees to find the information they needed directly at the moment of use.
The tts performance suite thus meets the key requirements of the various users: high accessibility, quick orientation, and reliable support in complex projects. Hosted in Germany, the solution also complies with the regulatory requirements of the KRITIS industry. RheinEnergie now has a platform that combines technical breadth, technical security, and practical benefits.
Joint development of a central knowledge platform
The collaboration between RheinEnergie and tts began during a period of rapid change. A structured, jointly supported implementation process was launched to support the requirements of SAP S/4HANA, Salesforce/Schleupen, and other large-scale projects. The goal was to create a robust setup as early as possible that would be both technically reliable and widely usable.
Clearly merging divided responsibilities
There was close cooperation between several departments that contributed content and the IT department, which was responsible for technical operations.
To consolidate this structure, RheinEnergie and tts established a regular central steering committee – the “tts Treff.” This brought together technical managers from IT and various departments at RheinEnergie and RheinNetz.
Together, they prioritized topics, resolved coordination issues, and ensured a consistent rollout.
Quick start thanks to clear processes
After just a short time, the first business guidance content was created, explaining company processes step by step. These early results generated momentum. At the same time, tts supported the development of a structured onboarding process for new authors. This enabled other departments to quickly create their own content – without long lead times and without specialist knowledge.
Creating relevance for 3,000 employees
Many of the projects involved affected a large part of the workforce. The focus was therefore on strengthening orientation and security in everyday work. The tts performance suite was configured so that employees could find information quickly and apply it immediately. Departments were given the opportunity to map even complex processes in an understandable way – a key component in creating acceptance for the new systems.
Introduction without technical hurdles
At the same time, tts ensured that the implementation ran smoothly. The solution was integrated into the existing system landscape without additional technical effort and, thanks to hosting in Germany, meets the requirements of KRITIS regulations. This created a stable foundation on which RheinEnergie can continue to expand the platform.
